TIGERVILLE, S.C. — The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team closed the regular season on a strong note thanks to a 4-1 victory at North Greenville Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders got on the board in the 25th before breaking through with three more in the second half.
Gabriela Enciso tallied a goal and an assist while Anna Richard, Regaan Cullen and
Lourdes Tompkins all scored for the Abbey.
Haley Long had a pair of assists along with an assist from
Alyssa Espinosa.
With the victory, Belmont Abbey improved to 10-3-3 overall and 7-2-3 in Conference Carolinas play and completes the season sweep of NGU. North Greenville ends the regular season with a 1-9-5 record and 1-7-3 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crusaders took five shots in the first 15 minutes of play.
- Brianna Sroka made her lone save of the match in the first half.
- Cullen go the Crusaders on the board with her fourth goal of the season off the assist from Long.
- Richard took the first two shots of the second half and it was her second one that found the back of the net off an assist from Enciso. She finished with four shots.
- Enciso scored less than seven minutes later to extend the Abbey lead to 3-0. She led the team with five shots for the match.
- Lourdes Tompkins scored a goal for the second straight game in the 74th minute to cap the scoring for the Abbey.
- NGU scored its lone goal in the 81st minute of the match.
- Belmont Abbey controlled the match offensively by out-shooting North Greenville 14-1 in the first half and 22-3 in the contest.
