Katie Brookins registered her second career double-double and Belmont Abbey hit a season-high .263, leading the Crusaders to a 3-0 (25-12, 27-25, 25-19) victory over Erskine in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action Wednesday night. The win was the third straight -- a season-long -- and fifth in the last six matches.
With the win, The Abbey improves to 6-8 overall and 4-1 in league play. The Flying Fleet falls to 5-9, 2-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brookins had 12 kills and 10 digs, both team highs. She equaled her career-high in the dig total she had at Barton.
- Bailey Rowe reached double figures in kills for the first time in her career with 11, while adding a team-high three blocks (two solo).
- Ella Schellenberg dished out 28 assists and had eight digs, while Lily Marsh added four assists and eight digs.
- The Crusaders had eight service aces, led by Lola Sultenfuss' three. Kyleigh Coghlan and Mallory Swain adding two each. Brookins had the other one.
- The hitting percentage (41k-16e-95a) topped the effort in the last match (.236 vs. Francis Marion on Saturday).
UP NEXT
- Belmont Abbey returns home to face UNC Pembroke on Friday at 6 p.m.
- The contest was originally scheduled for Sept. 28, but postponed when Hurricane Helene moved through the Charlotte area.
