SALISBURY, N.C. — Belmont Abbey freshman Mariano Estebanez Rincon put together two even-par rounds of 71— highlighted by an ace on the Par 3-14th hole— to lead a large contingent of Belmont Abbey golfers competing at the Rendleman Invitational Monday at The Country Club of Salisbury.
 
Rincon is tied for 10th with three other golfers as the Crusaders had 21 student-athletes competing at the event.
 
The hole-in-one proved to be a jump start to his round as he finished four-under par over the final nine holes of his first round. Rincon had two of the three even-par rounds of the day along with Elian Infante, who matched in the second round.
 
Infante led the Abbey A team with Rincon leading the B team. Dylan Reiser (81-72—153) and Jack Crawford (75-78—153) led the C and D teams, respectively.
 
Emory & Henry (-16) leads the tournament ahead of host Catawba (-9) and Erskine (Even).
