BRISTOL, Tenn. — Lourdes Tompkins scored her second goal of the season and
McKenna Schwarz earned her first assist of the season as the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team finished with a 1-1 draw at King Wednesday afternoon at Parks Field.
Both goals came in the first half of play as the Crusaders began a final two-game stretch of road matches to conclude the regular season.
With the result, Belmont Abbey is now 9-3-3 overall, 6-2-3 in Conference Carolinas play and 2-2-3 in Northwest Division play. King is now 1-10-3 overall, 1-7-3 in league play and 1-5-2 in Division play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gabriela Enciso took the first shot of the match for the Crusaders in the third minute of play.
- King struck early in the fourth minute with a Mackenzie Winters goal off an assist from Ariana Gallegos.
- The Crusaders took eight shots in the first half compared to four for the Tornado.
- Tompkins' goal came less than four minutes before halftime off of a Schwarz assist.
- Both teams took six shots in the final 45 minutes of play.
- Brianna Sroka made two saves in the start while Ryleigh Dougherty made three saves after entering the match to start the second half.
- Mia Muckenthaler and Sabrina Cunha led the Abbey with three shots each.
- The Crusaders had five corner kicks compared to three for the Tornado.
