Lowder Lifts Crusaders to 3-1 Win in Home Opener

BELMONT, N.C. -- Chloe Lowder had a career-best 15 kills -- hitting 407 -- and added six blocks, leading Belmont Abbey to a 3-1 (25-16, 15-25, 26-24, 25-17) victory over Charleston in women's college volleyball action Thursday night. The contest marked the home opener for the Crusaders after playing the first 11 matches away from home and seeing two others postponed.

With the win, The Abbey improves to 4-8 overall, while the Golden Eagles fall to 11-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lowder posted 15 kills against four errors in 27 chances. Her five block assists and six total blocks were also career-highs.
  • Katie Brookins also reached double figures in kills with 11, while adding three digs.
  • Ella Schellenberg dished out 40 assists, while chipping in six digs and a service ace.
  • Libero Lily Marsh led the defensive effort with 13 digs, while Tyle Case and Kyleigh Coghlan each added seven.
  • Riley Nickol served four of the team's eight aces and made eight digs.

  • Belmont Abbey continues its four-match homestand on Saturday to celebrate Homecoming.
