BELMONT, N.C. — Marcos Frias scored his first career goal for the Belmont Abbey men's soccer team as the Crusaders took on Lees-McRae Saturday night at Alumni Field.
Despite the first career goal, it was the Bobcats who came away with the 3-1 victory.
With the result, Belmont Abbey is now 3-6-2 overall and 2-5-1 in Conference Carolinas play. Lees-McRae is now 3-3-3 overall and 3-2-1 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Pat Hissim took the first shot of the match for the Abbey and he led the way with four shots on the evening.
- Lees-McRae tallied two goals in the first half: one in the 10th minute and the 39th minute via an own goal.
- The Bobcats added a third goal in the 65th minute.
- Frias' tally came in the 77th minute as his goal was one of six shots taken in the final 15 minutes.
- Belmont Abbey took 14 shots compared to 11 for Lees-McRae. Both teams had five shots on target.
- Will Whitman got the start in goal and made one save.
