SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Four players finished in double figures but a hot shooting Converse team ended Belmont Abbey's three-game winning streak, 77-59, in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Wednesday night.
The results drops the Crusaders to 8-13 overall and 6-5 in league play, while the Valkyries improve to 13-7, 6-5. Converse also takes the lead in the Northwest Division with a 3-1 mark compared to 2-2Â for BAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- DJ Holloway led the Crusaders for the first time this season with 15 points, while also grabbing five rebounds.
- Kyle Frazier added 12 points, while Wade Jackson chipped in 11 points and a team-best five assists. Jacori Owens rounded out the double-figure scoring with 10 points, hitting all five of his field-goal attempts.
- The Crusaders held a 28-25 advantage on the boards, but committed 12 turnovers to Converse's seven.
- The hosts hit 54.7 percent from the field, including nine of 21 three-pointers. The Abbey countered at 48 percent, but made just four threes. The total was tied for the second-lowest of the season.
