BELMONT, N.C. --
Zach Puentes tallied 15 kills and a .289 hitting percentage, but Queens connected at a .285 rate as a team, leading the Royals to a 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18) victory over Belmont Abbey in men's college volleyball action Wednesday night.
The setback was the first of the season for the Crusaders (3-1), while Queens improved to 4-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Puentas' 15 kills came against four errors in 38 chances. He also had a team-high tying eight digs and three block assists.
- Matthew Staskunas added nine kills with a .207 percentage. He had two service aces and seven digs.
- Christian Rodriguez and Alex Winiarczyk also registered eight digs.
- Joseph Morris dished out 38 assists.
- Each team had 8.5 blocks. The Abbey had two solos and 13 assists.
