BELMONT, N.C. -- Junior
Kyle Frazier hit eight three-pointers en route to a career-high 24 points and two other players topped double figures, leading Belmont Abbey to a 77-74 victory over Erskine in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The eight three-pointers was just one shy of the school-record and equals four other players for second place.
With the win, The Abbey improves to 6-12 overall and 5-4 in league play, while Erskine falls to 3-12, 0-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- All 13 of Frazier's shot attempts were from behind the arc. He also grabbed three rebounds and had an assist.
- Wade Jackson tallied 15 points, five rebound and a team-high (shared) six assists, while Jacori Owens added 12 points.
- DJ Holloway led the rebounding effort with a career-high eight, while Mason Taylor chipped in seven. Belmont Abbey held a 36-30 advantage on the boards.
- Taylor tied for the team-best -- and tied his career-high -- with six assists.
- The Crusaders hit a season-best 16 three-pointers. It was third-highest total in school history.
- The Abbey hit 68.2 percent (15 of 22)Â from the field in the opening half, its best 20 minutes of the year. The final total of 57.1 percent (28 of 49) was the second-best.
- The 25 assists were the best of the season and just two shy of the school standard.
- Erskine never led after the Crusaders opened the game with an 11-0 run. Belmont Abbey also scored 12 in a row late in the second half.
