COLUMBIA, S.C. -- School records fell in four events Friday as Belmont Abbey enjoyed a stellar day one at the Carolina Challenge hosted by South Carolina. Additionally, 13 Crusaders eclipsed the qualifying standards for the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championship next month.
Records were set in the long jump (
Orlando Descartes), triple jump (Dayzhaun Gooding-Williams), 4x400 relay (Kenneth Jensen,
Jesse Coleman,
Thomas Thierfelder,
Garison Coleman) and 400m Dash (
Jesse Coleman). Ironically, Garrison Coleman initially set the school record in the second heat of the 400, only to see Jesse top it less than five minutes later in the fourth heat.
Action at the Carolina Challenge continues on Saturday.
