Women’s Soccer Celebrates Senior Day With Win Over Erskine

BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team celebrated a dozen seniors with a 9-0 victory over Erskine in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Logan Parry tallied her second hat-trick of the season in the victory while Haley Long and Caroline Roche both scored twice as well for the Crusaders.

Prior to Saturday's contest, 12 seniors were recognized for their contributions to the Belmont Abbey women's soccer program. They are as follows: Riley Barrett, Kaitlyn Briones, Hannah Armendariz, Arianna Aguilar, Logan Parry, Rebecca Morrison, Austin Bowling, Korynn Green, Margaret Harris, Olivia Ivey, Maggie McNichol and Emma Zabinski.

The Crusaders improved to 4-1-3 overall and 2-0-2 in the conference. Erskine is now 0-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Parry tallied her first two goals of the match within a minute off assists from Armendariz and Long.
  • Paige D'Agostin tallied her second goal of the season in the 25th minute while Long scored in the 35th minute off a penalty kick.
  • The final three goals of the first half for the Crusaders came in the final three minutes of the half.
  • Belmont Abbey finished the day with nine assists with two coming from Reagan Cullen.
  • Long and Parry accounted for the final two goals of the second half.
  • Belmont Abbey held Erskine without a shot in the contest.
  • The Crusaders took 38 shots, 18 on goal.
  • Seven Crusaders made their first starts of the season: Barrett, Briones, Armendariz, Ivey, Harris, Zabinski, Morrison.
  • Additionally, goalkeeper Gianna Carneglia made her first appearance of the season in the second half of Saturday's win.
