Crusaders Shut Out Lincoln Memorial, 3-0

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Casey Etter tallied a goal and an assist and Isabella Grasso and Jillian Cain tallied goals as the Belmont Abbey field hockey team defeated Lincoln Memorial 3-0 in a South Atlantic Conference contest Saturday afternoon at Belk Turf Field.

Additionally, the Crusaders held the Railsplitters without a shot in the contest.

The Crusaders improved to 2-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play while the Railsplitters are 0-11 overall and 0-7 in the league.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Crusaders applied early pressure with four shots and five penalty corners in the first quarter.
  • Etter scored her second goal in as many games with an assist from Cuinn Deely just over a minute into the second quarter.
  • Grasso added a goal early in the third quarter to extend The Abbey lead for her second goal of the season.
  • Jillian Cain scored her first career goal with less than 10 minutes remaining in the contest after the assist from Etter.
  • Etter led the team with seven shots in the game followed by Cain with five.
  • The 18 shots and 12 shots on goal taken by the Crusaders were both season highs.
  • Chloe Parker recorded her second shutout of the season and the 14th of her career.
  • Katie Cole, Gillyanna Knox, Margaret Malcolm and Alexandra Yancey all made their first appearances of the season for the Crusaders.
