BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team went back-and-forth and ultimately finished in a 2-2 draw with Lees-McRae Saturday evening at Alumni Field.
Gabriela Enciso tallied her fourth goal of the season in the first half while
Paige D'Agostin added a penalty kick goal for her first tally of the year.
Belmont Abbey is 3-1-3 overall with a 1-0-2 mark in Conference Carolinas play while Lees-McRae is 1-5-1 and 1-1-1 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crusaders held the upper-hand on the attack, finishing with seven shots in the first half compared to just two for Lees-McRae.
- Enciso's goal came when she capitalized on a Lees-McRae defensive miscue midway through the first half. She led the team with five shots for the match.
- The Bobcats pulled even with a goal in the second half from Sarah Jones in the first four minutes of the half.
- D'Agostin took the lead back for The Abbey with less than 15 minutes remaining.
- The Bobcats pulled even again with just under nine minutes remaining in the contest.
- The Abbey outshot Lees-McRae 16-5 in the contest and 8-3 in shots on goal.
- Brianna Sroka finished with one save for the Abbey.
