McCulley Strikes Seven Times in 21-13 Win over Emmanuel

BELMONT, N.C. -- Davis McCulley scored a career-high seven goals and added an assist and Matthew Wyatt finished with seven points as Belmont Abbey cruised past Emmanuel 21-13 in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon.

The Crusaders improve to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in league play, while the Lions fall to 1-11, 0-4.

THE OPENER
  • McCulley's eight points were also a career high. He added four ground balls.
  • Wyatt finished with five goals and two assists for seven points.
  • Mikey Sweigart tallied a pair of goals with Riley Arsenault, Jacob Power, Tyler Bunes and Carson Block adding one each.
  • Joseph Penner, John Valetto and Nick Hahn scored their first career goals.
  • Caleb Mulcahy won 25 of 30 faceoffs.
  • Starting goalie Thomas Sullivan made four saves to improve to 8-3 on the season.
  • Every healthy Crusaders saw action in the contest, including goalie Ethan Schena. His 9:04 of play marked the first time that Sullivan was not in the goal for The Abbey.
  • The Crusaders opened leads of 4-1 after one period and 10-2 by halftime. The third and fourth periods were both even.
