Matteo Miselli tallied 18 kills and Alex Winiaczyk and Matthew Stauskunas added 10 digs each as No. 4 seed Belmont Abbey defeated fifth-seeded Lees-McRae 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-23) in the quarterfinal round of the 2023 Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Tournament Tuesday night in the Wheeler Center.
With the victory, the Crusaders (15-15) advance to a semifinal matchup vs. top-seeded North Greenville Friday at 5 p.m. in Bristol, Tenn. The Bobcats end their season at 11-15.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miselli hit .282 with 18 kills and sever errors in 39 chances. He also added four digs for the Crusaders.
- Jay Beller and Ethan Rehmann both registered five kills, hitting .625 (5k-0e-8a) and .500 (5k-1e-8a), respectively.
- Matthew Maxwell tallied 28 assists, six digs and a kill.
- The Crusaders totaled 9.5 blocks as a team. Beller and Miselli has four each (two solo, two assists).
- Belmont Abbey hit .183 as a team, compared to the Bobcats' 133.
- Lees-McRae struggled to serve in the first with nine of its 14 service errors coming in the set. The Abbey had just eight errors.

- Belmont Abbey advances to the semifinals where top-seeded North Greenville awaits.
- The start time is 5 p.m. with the winner advancing to Saturday's championship. The final four will be hosted by King in Bristol, Tenn.
