BELMONT, N.C. --
Matteo Miselli tallied 18 kills and nine digs, but it was not enough as North Greenville defeated Belmont Abbey 3-1 (25-12, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21) in Conference Carolinas men's volleyball action Thursday night in the Wheeler Center.
The contest served as the regular-season finale for both teams. Belmont Abbey ended the campaign at 14-15 overall, 8-6 in league play, and will enter the conference tournament as the No. 4 seed. North Greenville, which had already clinched the regular-season title and No. 1 seed, now stands at 18-7, 11-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miselli finished with a .324 hitting percentage on 18 kills and six errors in 37 attempts. In addition to his dig total, he was credited with two block assists.
- Matthew Staskunas chipped in nine kills while Gage Giller and Alex Winiarczyk had seven each. Winiarczyk hit ..417.
- Matthew Maxwell dished out 36 assists and had two kills. He also tallied five digs and a block assist.
- Daniel Cerqua added 12 digs to his school career record in the category (now 743).
- North Greenville outhit The Abbey .320 to .164.
- Before the game, the senior class of Giller, Miselli, Maxwell and Cerqua were honored.
