BELMONT, N.C. --
Tre Childers scored a career-high five goals, but a big second quarter lifted Lewis to a 14-8 victory over 20th-ranked Belmont Abbey in men's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
With the result, the Crusaders fall to 3-3 overall, while the Flyers, who were receiving votes in this week's USILAÂ coaches poll, improve to 4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Davis McCulley tallied three points on two goals and one assists, with Matthew Wyatt scoring the final goal.
- Belmont Abbey scored the game's first two goals, by Matthew Wyatt on power play at 9:49 and Childers with 3:49 left in the quarter.
- But the Flyers rallied to even the score at two by then end of the period.
- Lewis outscored The Abbey 7-2 in the second for a 9-4 lead at halftime. The surge included the last four scores of the period after it led 5-4.
- Belmont Abbey outshot Lewis 42-36 but Flyer goalkeeper Riah Rathe tallied 19 saves.
