FORT VALLEY, Ga. --
Matthew Staskunas tallied a career-high-tying 17 kills with no errors and added a team-high seven digs, leading Belmont Abbey to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-21) victory over Fort Valley State in men's collegiate volleyball Saturday. The win completed a road sweep of SIAC opponents this weekend.
The Abbey improves to 8-11 overall, while FVSU falls to 4-12.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Staskunas hit .654 over his 26 chances. He also had 17 kills against Erskine on Feb. 25 and had now reached double figures in the category five times this season.
- Matteo Miselli recorded 13 kills and a .360 percentage, while Ethan Rehmann's five kills and no errors in eight chances led to a .625 percentage.
- The Crusaders hit .361 as a team (40k-10e-83a), while the Wildcats countered at .179.
- Matthew Maxwell dished out 34 assists, while adding four digs, a block and a kill. He also had two of the Crusaders' three aces.
- Rehman had the other ace.
- The Abbey totaled 28 digs with Miselli making six and Daniel Cerqua adding five.
