Taylor Paces Four in Double Figures with 18 Points

GAFFNEY, S.C. -- Mason Taylor scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds, but a conventional three-point play by Limestone with 5.9 seconds remaining lifted the Saints to an 87-84 victory over Belmont Abbey.

The biggest lead for either team in the final four minutes was just three points. There were three lead changes and five ties during that span.

The Abbey falls to 1-5 on the season, while the Saints improve to 1-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Three other players reached double figures for the evening -- Wade Jackson with 17, Kyle Frazier with 12 and Jacori Owens with 10.
  • Jackson led the Crusaders with six rebounds, although Limestone held a 39-33 advantage on the boards overall.
  • Freshman Khamani Wertz made his first career start, scoring eight points and dishing out a season-high five assists for the second straight game.
  • Belmont Abbey shot 66.7 percent (18-27) in the opening half, making eight three-pointers.
  • The 50 points in the first half were a season-high for the Crusaders. They led by as many as 16 points, 63-47, with 15:15 to play.
  • Limestone held a 14-7 advantage in turnovers
