CLOVER, S.C. – Isabella Grasso scored her third goal of the season as the Belmont Abbey field hockey team hosted Limestone Friday afternoon at Field Day Park.
The Crusaders and Saints battled but it was scored the game-winning goal with 28.8 seconds remaining to earn a 2-1 victory over The Abbey.
Belmont Abbey is 3-7 overall, 3-5 in SAC play. Limestone has 6-3 records both overall and in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Belmont Abbey took three shots in the first quarter with Casey Etter tallying the first shot on goal.
- Zoe Bergmann got the Saints on the board with 9:45 remaining in the second quarter.
- The third quarter was a defensive battle with just two shots combined in the period.
- Grasso scored her third goal of the season off a penalty stroke with 2:02 remaining.
- Limestone's Lana Mignon de Wet go the go-ahead goal with 28 seconds left.
- Belmont Abbey had eight penalty corners compared to three from Limestone.
- Chloe Parker made two saves on the day to bring her career total to 231.
- The Crusaders had a 9-7 advantage in shots as well as a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.
