YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team closed out its regular season campaign with a dramatic 1-1 draw against Young Harris Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas play.
Both goals came within the final 10 minutes of the match after a scoreless first 80 minutes.
The Crusaders close the regular season with a 10-4-3 overall record while the Mountain Lions are 9-3-5 and 8-0-4 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Davis McBee took the first shot on goal for The Abbey in the 11th minute of play. The Crusaders finished with three shots in the first 45 minutes.
- Belmont Abbey took the lead in the 83rd minute when Walter Gomez found the bottom right corner of the net off an assist from Dorian Samo.
- The Mountain Lions goal came just 43 seconds later to pull back even.
- The Crusaders finished with six shots for the match, two on goal.
- Will Whitman made four saves in goal for the Crusaders.
