CENTRAL, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team extended its unbeaten match streak to five thanks to its 7-0 victory over Southern Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at Childs Field.
Reagan Cullen scored a brace and had an assist and five others tallied goals while
Brianna Sroka and
Gianna Carneglia combined for a shutout for the Crusaders.
The Abbey improves to 8-2-4 overall and 6-1-3 in Conference Carolinas play. Southern Wesleyan is 1-11-2 overall, 0-9-1 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cullen scored the first of her two goals in the 14th minute off an assist from Haley Long.
- The Crusaders added a pair of goals in a span of 2:11 from Logan Parry and Ella McDonald.
- Cullen assisted on the Parry goal, her 15th of the season, while McDonald's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
- Belmont Abbey extended the lead in the second half with the seventh goal of the season from Gabriela Enciso.
- Enciso led the team with five shots, Alyssa Espinosa had four and Madison Gnolfo and Cullen had three each.
- Cullen added her second goal in the 61st minute of the match.
- Madison Gnolfo scored her first goal of her collegiate career in the second half in the 65th minute.
- Caroline Roche capped the scoring with just under four minutes remaining in the match with her fifth goal of the year off an Addie Galek assist.
- The Crusaders took 31 shots, 16 on goal, compared to nine and three, respectively for the Warriors.
- Belmont Abbey took eight corner kicks in the match.
