BELMONT, N.C. – Senior Gabriela Enciso scored a pair of goals to book-end the scoring as the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team defeated Converse 4-0 Tuesday at Alumni Field.
The matchup was the second of the season between the Northwest Division opponents. Tuesday's result also marked the continuation of good play from the Crusaders, who have won three of their last four contests via shutout.
Belmont Abbey improved to 7-2-4 overall and 5-1-3 in Conference Carolinas. Converse is now 4-6-3 overall and 2-5-2 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Enciso got the Crusaders on the board just over five minutes into the match off an assist from Sabrina Cunha.
- Alyssa Espinosa scored for the second straight match when she doubled the Abbey advantage and scored off a rebounded shot from Paige D'Agostin.
- Brianna Sroka made her lone save of the match early in the second half.
- Addie Galek tallied her first goal as a Crusader after converting on a cross from McKenna Schwarz.
- Enciso added her second goal with just over four minutes remaining in the match. It is the second time this season that she has scored multiple goals in a match with the other coming against Anderson in the season opener on August 31.
- Belmont Abbey out-shot Converse 22-4 overall and 9-1 in shots on goals.
- The Crusaders had three corner kicks compared to two for the Valkyries.

- The Crusaders head on the road to face Southern Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Saturday.
- Belmont Abbey's final home game of the regular season will be against King at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday October 25 to determine the Northwest Division champion.
