SNOW HILL, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's golf team returned to the course to open play at the Barton Intercollegiate at Cutter Creek Golf Club. The tournament was suspended Monday evening due to darkness with several teams still needing to complete their second rounds.
 
The Crusaders sent two teams to compete in with four individuals at the tournament. Following the first round of play, the Belmont Abbey A team finished with an opening-round total of 2-over par 290 and was in third place after the first 18 holes.
 
Lee Carew opened the tournament 1-under 71 and Will Locey and Connor Rose opening with rounds of even par 72. For the B team, Eduardo Arango shot a one-over par 73 to lead the second team. The team was eighth after the first 18 holes after opening with a 306.
 
Newberry led the tournament after 18 holes with a four-under par 284 followed by host Barton (287).
