BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey hit a season-best .229 and reversed an 18-10 deficit in the third set to sweep past Chowan 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 32-30) in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon at the Wheeler Center. The Crusaders recorded 22 kills on 61 attempts in the third set, saving seven set points.
The win was the third in four matches -- and second in as many days -- for The Abbey, which improved to 4-14 overall and 4-6 in league play. Chowan falls to 4-17, 3-8. The teams had entered the day tied for ninth in the league's KPI, which will determine tournament seeding next month.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tyler Case tallied 12 kills, while Cameron Young and Lola Sultenfuss added 10 each. Sultenfuss hit a team-best .421 (10k-2e-19a).
- Ella Schellenberg dished out 38 of the team's 42 assists and had 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the year. She also had a service ace and two block assists.
- Jenna McCullough registered seven blocks (two solo), helping the team to a season-high 9.0.
- Trinity Bradley served four aces and had five digs, while Lily Marsh was credited with a team-high 12 digs.
