MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team was able to overcome a first-half deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with Mount Olive Saturday afternoon at Amon Field.
 
The Trojans took a 2-0 lead after the first 17 minutes but the Crusaders answered with two goals of their own to earn a point on the road. Belmont Abbey and Mount Olive entered the match as the No.4 and No. 5 teams, respectively, in the KPI rankings that determine Conference Tournament seeding.
 
Belmont Abbey is now 6-2-4 overall, 4-1-3 in Conference Carolinas play. Mount Olive is 3-3-6 overall and 3-2-4 in the league.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- The Crusaders came out aggressively with four shots, three on goal, in the first four minutes of the match.
 
	- Mount Olive's two goals came in the seventh and 18th minute from Makenna Copley and Amanda McLeod for a 2-0 advantage.
 
	- The Abbey began chipping away at the deficit and got one back right before halftime when Austin Bowling scored her first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 44th minute.
 
	- Alyssa Espinosa pulled the Crusaders level with a goal in the 74th minute. Paige D'Agostin was credited with the assist.
 
	- Brianna Sroka made the last of her four saves in the final three minutes of the match.
 
	- Mount Olive goalkeeper Nicole Solicito made 10 saves on the afternoon.
 
	- The Crusaders outshot the Trojans 18-7 and had double the number of shots on goal (12-6).
 
	- Each team took two corner kicks.
 
 
UP NEXT
	- The Crusaders will host Converse at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Alumni Field.
 
	- It will be the second meeting of the season after both teams played to a 1-1 draw back on September 16th.
