Mario Lacy, Jr., and
Mason Taylor each scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but a 28.1% shooting performance in the second half sent Belmont Abbey to a 74-62 setback against Emmanuel in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Wednesday night.
The loss dropped the Crusaders (13-7, 9-3) into a three-way tie for second with the Lions (also 13-7, 9-3) and Barton. It also snapped a 16-game home winning streak, including 10 straight this year.??????
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charles Solomon finished just short of a double-double with nine points and team-high nine rebounds. He also had five assists and four blocks.
- The teams were tied 35-35 at half, before the Crusaders used seven straight points for a 43-37 lead.
- However, the Lions tallied 30 of the next 37 points to open a 67-50 advantage with 6:43 left.
- The Abbey made just nine of 32 field-goal attempts after intermission.
- Belmont Abbey held a 44-33 rebounding advantage, but committed 11 more turnovers (17 to the Lions' six).
