BELMONT, N.C. --
Mario Lacy, Jr., scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Belmont Abbey used a 13-0 run midway through the second half to earn a 91-72 victory over North Greenville in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.
The win was the Crusaders' third straight in a span of six days and improved the records to 13-6 overall and 9-2 in league play. It was the 13th win in 15 outings since an 0-4 start and the 16th straight at home (10-0 this season).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lacy hit 12 of 16 field goal attempts and two of five free throws, topping his previous best of 25 points against Wingate in the season opener. His double-double was the seventh this season and 18 in his career.
- Wade Jackson and Mason Taylor also reached double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
- KJ Garrett dished out seven assists, while Charles Solomon added eight points, 11 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and three steals.
- Belmont Abbey shot 57.6 percent in the first half (19 of 33) and 52.9 percent overall (36-68).The hosts also held a 42-27 rebounding advantage.
- The Abbey trailed 59-56 with 12:15 left, but scored 13 straight over a span of 3:58. The run was the longest of the season.
