BELMONT, N.C. --
Charles Solomon posted his fourth double-double of the season and four other players reached double figures as Belmont Abbey earned its seventh straight win, 77-66 over Southern Wesleyan, in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action on Wednesday. Solomon hit all five of his shots from the field en route to 10 points, while also grabbing a team-best 10 rebounds.
With the win, the Crusaders improve to 10-5 overall and 6-1 in league play, while the Warriors fall to 2-14, 2-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wade Jackson tallied 18 points, primarily behind four three-pointers, while adding eight rebounds.
- Mario Lacy, Jr., scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while KJ Garrett and Mason Taylor chipped in 12 points each.
- Three days after a season-high 67.3Â percent from the field, the Crusaders cooled to 45.0 percent shooting, but still outshot their opponents (43.1 percent).
- Belmont Abbey held a 46-27 advantage on the boards.
- The score was tied at 40 with 15:44 to play following seven straight points by Southern Wesleyan, but The Abbey struck right back with it own 7-0 run.
- The lead reached 16, 69-53 with 4:42 to play, to put the game out of reach.
