Crusaders Draw With Lees-McRae in Conference Opener

BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team and Lees-McRae battled to a 3-3 draw in the Conference Carolinas opener for both teams Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Crusaders scored the first three goals of the match in the first half before the Bobcats responded with three of their own after halftime.

Belmont Abbey and Lees-McRae are now 0-2-2 on the season with identical 0-0-1 marks in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Belmont Abbey struck early in the fifth minute with a long-distance strike from Paige D'Agostin to make it 1-0.
  • Logan Parry put the Crusaders up 2-0 with her first goal of the season in the 20th minute off an assist from Kaylani Miranda.
  • Goose Andrews also scored her first goal in the 28th to give The Abbey a 3-0 lead. Anna Richard was credited with her first career assist.
  • Belmont Abbey outshot Lees-McRae 17-9 with eight shots on goal. Andrews led the team individually with four shots.
  • The Bobcats scored two goals in the span of three minutes early in the second half before adding the equalizer in the 76th minute.
