SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team closed out its longest road trip of the season with a 4-0 victory over Converse in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon at Weiseger Stadium.
The victory extended the Crusaders' winning streak to four matches and it also the second straight match that they have won by a 4-0 margin.
Logan Parry scored a goal for the fourth straight contest while
Goose Andrews added her third goal of the season in the first half.
Additionally, freshmen
Lydia Lewis and
Anna Richard scored their first career collegiate goals in the win.
Belmont Abbey improves to 4-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 in Conference Carolinas. Converse is now 2-7 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Belmont Abbey got on the board in the ninth minute with a goal from Andrews on a Parry assist.
- The Crusaders did not take long to add a second goal as Parry scored in the 12th minute off an assist by Reagan Cullen.
- Lewis scored her first career goal with less than two minutes in the first half set up by gaining possession from Converse on its end of the field.
- Richard got her goal in the 75th minute off an assist by Alyssa Espinosa. It is the first assist of the season for Espinosa.
- Lauryn Harding recorded one save in the win. She played the first 80 minutes before Brianna Sroka closed out the match.
- The Crusaders held an 20-2 advantage in shots that also included 12 shots on goal for The Abbey. The 20 shots is a season-high.
