DUE WEST, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team went back on the road to face Erskine in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday at Huggins Field.
The Crusaders outshot the Flying Fleet 8-4 but neither side could find a breakthrough as the match ended in a scoreless draw.
With the result, Belmont Abbey is now 1-5-3 overall and 0-1-3 in Conference Carolinas. Erskine is 0-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samuel Atherton took the first shot of the match for Belmont Abbey the eighth minute.
- Atherton was one of three Crusaders who made their first starts of the season for the Crusaders along with Caelan Smith and Nathan Deimling.
- The Belmont Abbey attack had three shots on goal over the final 8:04 of the first half with two of them coming from Mackenzie Toms.
- The Crusaders took four more shots in the final 45 minutes and finished the match with four shots on goal.
- Will Whitman made the start in goal for The Abbey and finished with one save.
