Rybicki Scores Third Goal of Season at Mount Olive

MT. OLIVE, N.C.— The Belmont Abbey field hockey team returned to South Atlantic Conference play with a road contest at Mount Olive Wednesday.
 
Jessica Rybicki scored her third goal of the season for the Crusaders but it was Mount Olive who came away with the 2-1 victory.
 
Belmont Abbey is now 2-4 overall and 1-1 in South Atlantic Conference play. The Trojans moved to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the league.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Trojans got on the board first midway through the first quarter thanks to a goal by Nikki Bos.
  • Mount Olive added a second goal in the third quarter to extend its lead to 2-0.
  • The Crusaders got their lone goal in the fourth quarter as Rybicki scored off a penalty corner.
  • Kaylee Wenzel was credited with her team-best third assist of the season.
  • Chloe Parker finished with 10 saves.
  • Belmont Abbey was able to finish with seven penalty corners, including three in the final four minutes of the contest.
  • Four Crusaders accounted for eight of the nine total shots for the game for The Abbey.
  • Casey Etter and Abigail Kane finished with two shots on goal each.

  • The Crusaders play their first home game of the season at Alumni Field in a SAC contest against Coker at 4 p.m.
