WILSON, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey men's soccer team went on the road to face Barton Wednesday in the first Conference Carolinas road match of the season for the Crusaders.
Belmont Abbey and Barton battled but it was Barton who secured a late goal in the second half to come away with a 1-0 victory.
The Crusaders are now 1-4-2 overall, 0-1-2 in the conference while the Bulldogs are now 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zion Duncan and Omar Gonzalez took the first two shots of the match for Belmont Abbey in the opening 15 minutes.
- After just two shots in the first 45 minutes, the Crusaders took seven shots in the second half.
- Davis McBee led the team with three shots.
- Both the Crusaders and Bulldogs finished with three shots on goal.
- The Crusaders took six corner kicks on the night.
- Will Whitman made a pair of saves in the contest.
- Barton scored its only goal with less than four minutes remaining in the match.
