Matteo Miselli tallied a season-high 26 kills, but they were not enough as Belmont Abbey dropped a hard-fought 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 17-25, 25-11, 15-13) decision to Erskine Saturday afternoon in the 2022 regular-season finale.
The Crusaders drop to 14-15 overall and 5-9 in league play, while the Flying Fleet improve to 12-17, 6-8. The match decided the No. 5 and 6 seeds for the conference tournament as the team entered the day tied.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Andrew Kohut added 14 kills and a service ace.
- Jack Walsh dished out 45 assists, tallied five blocks and added six digs for the Crusaders.
- Daniel Cerqua led the defensive effort with 11 digs, while Alex Winiarczyk added a career-best 10.
- The Abbey hit just .125 in the contest, while Erskine countered at .164.
