BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey bolted to an 8-0 lead in the first 20 minutes and never looked back in a 20-8 victory over Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon.
Austin Hasen scored four goals during the surge, finishing the game with five and two assists.
The Crusaders improve to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in league play, while the Bobcats fall to 2-9, 0-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Abbey held a 6-0 lead after the first quarter and a 10-1 margin at halftime.
- All nine of the third quarter goals were scored by the Crusaders, pushing the advantage to 19-1.
- Noah Haas also scored five goals.
- Thomas Sullivan made six saves in goal, allowing just one goals before being replaced at halftime. Ben Sabelhaus registered 10 saves before turning the final shift over to Easton Butterfield, who garnered three saves registering eight saves.
- Belmont Abbey outshot Lees-McRae 60-31 and won 22 of 28 faceoffs.
