FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse reached a new season high in goals scored as the Crusaders defeated Emmanuel 23-6 Wednesday afternoon in Conference Carolinas play. The victory marked the third straight win for the Abbey and also moved the Crusaders to 5-0 in the league.
Davis McCulley led the way with a season-best seven points (four goals, three assists) while
Austin Hasen also had four goals to lead the Crusaders.
Belmont Abbey is now 7-5 overall. With the loss, Emmanuel is 2-11 overall and 0-5 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Noah Haas and Matthew Wyatt scored the first two goals of the game for the Crusaders just seconds apart to gain a quick 2-0 lead.
- After Emmanuel scored its first goal at the 9:55 mark of the first quarter, Belmont Abbey went on a run of six straight unanswered goals to close out the quarter.
- Belmont Abbey extended its lead in the second quarter by outscoring the Lions 8-0. McCulley scored three of his four goals in the second quarter.
- The Crusaders held a 66-30 advantage in shots and 47-20 advantage in shots on goal against the Lions. Both are also season highs.
- Belmont Abbey forced 19 turnovers from Emmanuel.
- The Crusaders had 14 different people score a goal and finished with 22 assists, a new season-high.
- Carson Block, Jaryd Massey and Tyler Leighton all scored their first goals of the season in the victory.
- Ben Sabelhaus finished with eight saves to lead Belmont Abbey.

- Belmont Abbey is off for a week for Easter break before playing its final road game of the regular season at Lander on April 20. The game was rescheduled from March 16.
- The regular-season finale for the Crusaders will be at noon April 23 against North Greenville at Alumni Field.
