MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -
Bailey Williams scored three goals and handed out an assist, and the Belmont Abbey Men's Lacrosse team earned a 12-10 win at Mount Olive this afternoon. With the win, The Abbey improves to 4-4 on the season, with a 2-0 Conference Carolinas record. UMO is now 4-5 overall, and 1-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Williams scored each of the first two goals for the Crusaders. Later in the quarter, he set up Noah Haas for a score. Austin Hasen found the back of the net at the 3:05 mark to put the Crusaders in front 4-1 when the first quarter ended
- The second was a defensive battle, with each team scoring just one goal. The Abbey held the Trojans to just eight shots in the period, and led 5-2 at halftime
- In the third, Haas set up Riley Arsenault for a goal. He also scored in the closing seconds of the period to give Belmont Abbey an 8-7 lead heading into the final quarter
- Jeremy Benson got the scoring started in the fourth. Hasen scored the final Abbey goal of the contest to wrap up the 12-10 Crusader victory
- On the day, Williams led the Crusaders offensively, with three goals and an assist
- Austin Hasen also scored three goals
- Thomas Sullivan made 16 saves in goal

Belmont Abbey will host Westminster (Utah) on Friday, April 1. That game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
