Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. -
Christina Fabrizio was the leader of 10 players who scored for the Belmont Abbey Women's Lacrosse team in a 25-1 win over Converse this evening. The victory moves The Abbey to 4-5 on the year, with a 2-1 Conference Carolinas record. Converse is now 0-7 overall, with a 0-2 conference mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fabrizio scored the first goal of the contest just 28 seconds in and the Crusaders never looked back from there. She scored again at the 13:46 mark
- The Crusaders scored five goals in the last seven minutes of the period, including two from Angela Bagatta. The Abbey led 10-1 when the opening quarter ended
- Kathryn Monk started off the second quarter with her first goal of the season. The defense was also solid this quarter, limiting the Valkyries to just five shots. BAC held a 13-1 halftime lead
- In the third, the offense again exploded. Riley D'Andrea scored a free position goal to start the period, then Fabrizio scored twice in the next five minutes
- Olivia Carlino scored two goals late in the quarter, before Reilly McCarthy made it a 21-1 Abbey lead heading into the final period
- In the fourth, it was another free position goal by Fabrizio that started the period. Bagatta closed out the scoring, and the Crusaders took the 25-1 victory
- On the day, Fabrizio led the Crusader scoring with five goals. Carlino also had five points, with three goals and two assists
- Michelle Guppy and Becca Creekmore each made four saves in goal
- As a unit, Belmont Abbey outshot Converse 49-13. The defense also caused nine of the Valkyries' 13 turnovers in the game
