SPARTANBURG, S.C. -
Alexis Schulz scored 16 points and the Belmont Abbey women's basketball team won a 53-41 contest at Converse this evening. With the win, The Abbey improves to 14-6 on the year, with a 12-4 Conference Carolinas record. Converse is now 3-17 overall and 2-15 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brittany Autry scored four points in the first 37 seconds of the contest. A 3-pointer by Schulz three minutes into the game gave The Abbey the lead for good. BAC led 21-16 at the end of the quarter
- The second quarter was all Abbey. The tough Crusader defense gave up just three points in the period, and held a 33-19 lead at halftime
- Schulz put on an offensive show in the third quarter, scoring 11 of The Abbey's 12 points. The defense was also strong, giving up just one field goal over the first four minutes, and the Crusaders held a strong 45-29 lead heading into the final period
- A 6-2 run early in the fourth put Belmont Abbey in front by 18. Kelli Thomas wrapped up the scoring and the Crusaders won the contest 53-41
- On the night, Schulz scored 16, tied for the game's high. She also had three steals
- Brittany Autry scored 12 and grabbed 15 rebounds. Taylor Stelley handed out a game-high six assists

Belmont Abbey will head to Chowan on Friday, February 11 for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
