MURFREESBORO, N.C. –
Brittany Autry scored 20 points, and the defense had 11 steals to help the Belmont Abbey women's basketball team to a 77-67 win at Chowan this evening. The Crusaders are now 15-6 on the season, with a 13-4 conference record, and have clinched a spot in the Conference Carolinas tournament. Chowan is now 13-7 overall, and 13-5 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Chowan led early in the first quarter, but back-to-back 3-point baskets from Jo Snow tied the game at 12. BAC led 24-19 at the end of the first
- The Crusaders led by as many as 12 in the second, and held a 42-33 lead at halftime
- A 6-0 run by The Abbey put the Crusaders in front 53-39 midway through the third. A step-back jumper by Snow in the closing seconds gave Belmont Abbey a 64-47 lead heading into the final quarter
- Two free throws by Abigail Crane gave The Abbey a 19-point lead with eight minutes to play
- Brittany Autry scored four points in the final minute of the contest to cap off the 77-67 victory
- Autry scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and made three steals
- Snow scored 19 points and pulled down seven boards. Kelli Thomas grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds
- Taylor Stelley handed out a game-high six assists, and made three steals. It was her fourth straight game with at least five assists
