DUE WEST, S.C. -
Brittany Autry scored a season-high 24 points to lead the Belmont Abbey Women's Basketball team past Erskine 69-51 this afternoon. The Abbey now stands at 13-6 on the season, with an 11-4 Conference Carolinas record. Erskine is now 0-19 overall, with a 0-17 conference mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crusaders scored seven points in the opening two minutes and never trailed after that. The Abbey also gave up just two points in the first seven minutes of the contest, and held a 20-8 lead at the end of the opening quarter
- Alexis Schulz got the Crusader scoring started in the second. The Crusader defense again was strong, not giving up a single point in the first four minutes of the quarter
- Autry scored eight points in the quarter, and The Abbey held a 34-22 lead at halftime
- Midway through the third, Belmont Abbey used a 7-0 run in a span of 1:06 to take a 43-31 lead
- On the defensive side, BAC gave up just one point in the last four minutes of the quarter, and led 48-38 heading into the final period
- Autry only needed nine seconds into the fourth to get The Abbey offense going
- An 8-0 run put the Crusaders in front with 6:33 to play. Abigail Crain capped off the scoring for the Crusaders, who finished the contest with the 69-51 win
- On the day, Autry led the Crusaders with 24 points and nine rebounds
- Jo Snow added 17 points. Snow and Taylor Stelley each handed out five assists. Kelli Thomas grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds
