BELMONT, N.C. - Preseason All-American
Noah Haas scored three goals, but the #11 Belmont Abbey Men's Lacrosse team lost to #15 Limestone 20-9 this afternoon. It was the season opener for both teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Haas got the scoring started, but seven straight scores by Limestone gave the Saints a 7-1 lead when the opening quarter ended
- In the second, Haas again scored early. Midway through the period, he scored a man-up goal, which made it a 10-4 Saints lead. Limestone held an 11-4 lead at halftime
- In the third, LU scored three straight before Kamren Thomas was able to give The Abbey a score. The Saints had an 18-5 advantage heading into the final quarter
- The fourth was The Abbey's best quarter. Bailey Williams scored in the opening minute of the period, off a pass from Luke Spanier
- Noah Sexton scored two goals in a row, while Austin Hasen capped off the scoring. Limestone, though, won 20-9 at the end
- On the day, Haas was the Crusader leader with three goals. Sexton and Hasen each scored twice
- James Bucher caused three Limestone turnovers. Thomas Sullivan made 13 saves in goal

Belmont Abbey will welcome Florida Tech to Alumni Field next Saturday, February 12 for a 1 p.m. contest.
