Williams Tallies Six Points Against Florida Tech

BELMONT, N.C. - Bailey Williams scored twice and handed out four assists, but the Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team lost 13-12 in overtime to Florida Tech this afternoon.  The Crusaders are now 0-2 on the season, while the Panthers move to 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Matthew Wyatt got The Abbey on the board early.  Connor Toomey put Belmont Abbey in front less than a minute later.  The defense also played well and the teams were tied at two when the opening quarter ended
  • The Panthers scored a couple goals early in the second, but Wyatt scored a man-up goal, and Evan Farrage found the back of the net just 26 seconds later
  • Noah Haas tied the game at five off a pass from Williams, though FIT held a 6-5 halftime lead
  • Williams tied the game at six in the opening minute of the third, then put The Abbey in front at the 12:18 mark.  Florida Tech led 10-8 heading into the final period
  • Austin Hasen was the first Crusader to score in the fourth.  A man-up goal by Haas made it 11-10, before Williams set up Michael Canavan for a goal and an 11-11 tie at the 4:49 mark
  • With 2:28 to play Hasen gave The Abbey a 12-11 lead, but a Panther goal in the final minute forced overtime.  FIT scored 48 seconds into the overtime period
  • On the day, Williams finished with a game-high six points.  Haas led the Crusader scoring with three goals
  • Caleb Mulcahy picked up six ground balls.  Thomas Sullivan made nine saves in goal
