BELMONT, N.C. – Andrew Kohut led the Belmont Abbey men's volleyball team with 14 kills and six digs while
Jack Walsh had 38 assists as the Crusaders swept Lees-McRae 25-16, 25-22, 25-21, in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday at the Wheeler Center.
It is the second straight conference sweep for The Abbey and the 10th win overall of the season.
The Crusaders are 10-4, 3-1 in league play. Lees-McRae is now 4-11, 2-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Belmont Abbey got off to a good start by earning the first three points of the match.
- The Crusaders also recorded a pair of aces from Jack Walsh and Kohut.
- The Abbey had a run of six unanswered points to pull away in the opening set.
- Belmont Abbey fell behind 14-11 in the second set before a 7-0 run helped put the Crusaders back in front at 18-14.
- Kohut delivered the final kill for Belmont Abbey to finish out the second set.
- After drawing even at 20-20, the Crusaders closed the match with a 5-1 run.
- The same run occurred for Belmont Abbey in the final set to close out the match.
- Gage Giller and Matteo Miselli both finished with 10 kills and five digs in the contest for The Abbey.
- Kyle Ferguson led Belmont Abbey with three block assists and a solo block.
