CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey forced a fifth set, but Queens outhit to Crusaders .235 to .000 in the decider to take a 3-2 (18-25, 25-14, 25-16, 22-25, 15-11), victory in men's volleyball action on Friday night.
Matteo Miselli tallied 15 kills and eight digs to lead The Abbey.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Andrew Kohut added eight kills and three aces, while Riley Mulkey chipped in five kills.
- Jack Walsh dished out 34 assists.
- The Crusaders (10-5) hit .168 as a team, compared to .291 for the Royals (8-7).
- The match was all about hitting percentages, with The Abbey taking the first set with 11 kills and three errors (.381). The Royals connected at nearly .400 in each of the next two sets to take a 2-1 lead.
- Both teams hit over .300 in the fourth with the Crusaders extending the match 25-22.
- The final set was tied at 5-5 when Queens got back to back points, then extended an 8-7 lead to 10-7 with two more in a row. From there, the Royals were able to hold off any runs.
