BELMONT, N.C. -- Michael Wyatt scored four goals and added an assist, but a Florida Southern surge late in the first half lifted the Mocs to a 21-13 victory over Belmont Abbey in men's lacrosse action Thursday night.
Noah Haas and
Bailey Williams also tallied five points.
Belmont Abbey falls to 0-3 with the result, while FSC improves to 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wyatt, a freshman, also posted career highs for shots (seven) and shots on goal (six).
- Haas tallied three goals and two assists, while Williams was credited with two goals and three helpers.
- Michael Canavan and Connor Nolt rounded out the scoring.
- Thomas Sullivan made 19 saves for the Crusaders.
- Florida Southern broke an 8-8 tie with five unanswered goals over the final 5:35 of the first half. Three straight goals in the third period turned a 14-10 lead into 17-10, then the Mocs opened the fourth with the first four goals to up the margin to 21-10.
- The Abbey allowed just two goals in 11 man-down situations, while converting thre of five man-up advantages.
- The visitors held a 62-36 advantage in shots.
