BANNER ELK, N.C. – Alexis Schulz scored a season-high 23 points and added seven rebounds to lead the Belmont Abbey women's basketball team against Lees-McRae Wednesday in Conference Carolinas play.
Brittany Autry also recorded her 10th double-double of the season but it was the Bobcats who came away with a 73-71 victory in overtime. Wednesday's game also marked the final road contest of the regular season for the Crusaders.
Belmont Abbey moved to 16-8 overall and 14-6 in league play. Lees-McRae is now 8-14 overall and 8-12 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crusaders got off to a good start by jumping out to an early 7-2 lead less than two minutes into the game.
- Schulz's first points of the game came on a 3-pointer with 40 seconds left in the opening quarter.
- Autry reached double figures scoring with her layup with 19 seconds left in the first half. She finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the contest.
- After trailing by as many as 14 points, the Crusaders rallied at halftime and was able to get the deficit back within two points in the third quarter.
- The Crusaders erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter with a 10-0 run quarter capped off by a 3-pointer by Schulz to tie the game at 64-64 with 1:04 left in regulation.
- Jo Snow finished with 12 points to go with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
- Taylor Stelley led The Abbey with a team-best five assists.

- The Crusaders begin a three-game home stand to close the regular season starting with a contest against Chowan at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Wheeler Center.
