Quest Aldridge scored 20 of his 22 points in the first half and three other players topped double figures, leading Belmont Abbey to a 103-80 victory over Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Wednesday night.
With the win -- the fifth during a stretch of six straight road games -- the Crusaders improve to 16-9 overall, 14-7 in league play. The Bobcats fall to 13-11, 11-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aldridge hit eight of 15 overall from the field, including six of seven from three-point range. He also added a team-best nine rebounds and five assists.
- LJ McCoy and Chandler Baker each tallied 18 points, while Mario Lacy chipped in 15 points and seven rebounds.
- Sean Halloran dished out a season-high eight assists to go with eight points.
- Belmont Abbey hed a 44-42 rebounding advantage and had a season-low-tying 10 turnovers.
- After allowing a three-pointer to start the game, the Crusaders scored five straight and 13 of the next 15 points. A 10-0 run midway through the half turned a 17-14 margin to 27-14.
- The largest margin was 30 points, 84-54, with 8:46 remaining.
- The win avenged a 118-113 loss to Lees-McRae last month and guaranteed no worse that a No. 6 seed in the conference tournament later this month.
