BELMONT, N.C. – Four Belmont Abbey field hockey seniors were honored prior to the start of the home finale against Converse Saturday at Alumni Field.

Samantha Moore,
Lauren Delisi and
Sarah Tobin were honored in a pregame ceremony for their contributions to the program over the last four years.
The Crusaders battled against the No. 8 ranked Valkyries but it was Converse who came away with the 2-0 victory.
Belmont Abbey is now 8-7 overall and 7-4 in the South Atlantic Conference. Converse moves to 14-1 overall and 10-1 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game started 30 minutes later due to transportation issues.
- Both teams were locked in a defensive battle for the first quarter. Belmont Abbey out-shot Converse 3-2 in the period, including two shots on goal.
- Converse scored its first goal of the game with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.
- The Valkryies scored their second goal with less than five minutes left in the game.
- Belmont Abbey held an 8-6 advantage in penalty corners.
- Grace Hines and Casey Etter had the two shots on goal for The Abbey.
- Chloe Parker finished with eight saves for the contest. It is the fifth time this season that the sophomore has made eight or more saves during a game.

- The Crusaders close the regular season on the road with a game at Newberry at 5 p.m.
- Belmont Abbey will host a South Atlantic Conference Tournament first-round game on November 15. Time and opponent are still to be determined.
